Exam tips for parents 2023-2024

Homework is an important part of the curriculum. The Education Endowment Foundation – a leading research organisation within the education sector – found that pupils who receive suitably challenging homework make, on average, an additional five months progress per year. The additional progress is particularly clear for secondary age pupils.

We aim to make homework as enjoyable and skills-focused as possible (see the attached overview for Years 7-9). In Years 10 to 13, homework is more directly connected to classroom teaching. Your child may, for example, be asked to complete research prior to the lesson so that lesson time can be used by teachers to address any questions or misunderstanding.

For much of your child’s time in Years 10-13, they will need to revise carefully for end of unit assessment and public examinations. To help you help them, we have created and guide for parents and carers. This also includes examination and coursework information on core subjects. We hope you find it helpful.
